The German poet Bertold Brecht wrote the following poem in 1934:

"Reicher Mann und armer Mann standen da und sah’n sich an.
Und der arme sagte bleich, wär ich nicht arm, wärst du nicht reich."

Translated into English it reads something like:

"Rich man and poor man stood there and looked at each other.
And the poor man said palely, if I weren't poor, you wouldn't be rich."
