Once I read a science fiction…
Once I read a science fiction book. This book was set in a not too far away future on Earth. People had discovered more elaborate methods of prolonging human life. One was a therapy which rejuvenated all cells, so as to become really younger, physically.
The main character was an old, rich lady which took the procedure. So her body was young again, but she still had her wealth and her knowledge.
But then she experienced that all her desires had changed, and she was far more driven to do things, young people want to do. So she travelled cities and countries, meets new people and experiences intersting things.
From this perspective the reader can experience a different world of the future. And there is one thing I haven't forgotten since. It's the way their monetary system works.
So, here comes the point of my whole note/TL;DR:
The rich people own the real money. With that money you can buy everything you want.
The government gives out another money for everyone. With this money you cannot buy important things, like land or factories etc. It is used for giving a universal basic income to everyone. It can be used to pay rent, buy food and necessities. So everyone is able to survive on this UBI. But not more.
On the other hand are the rich people who own the real money. And they get older. And they can so for a long time. And they get to keep their money.
Ever since I could call myself a bitcoiner, I have thougt more often about this. This could be a possible future scenario, in which rich people hodl #Bitcoin and the masses are fed with a government controlled fiat currency to subsidize their lifes.
